Since 1956

The Madrid's story began over 50 years ago. At the time, it was called the "Moulin Rouge", and was a grocery store, a restaurant, and a dance room all in one. Not long after Expo 67, the Moulin Rouge was completely destroyed by a violent fire. The restaurant was rebuilt soon after, adopting a Spanish-style and was renamed "Le Madrid".

Celebrities at the Madrid

Over the years, several of Quebec's well-known figures have stopped at the Madrid for a bite to eat during their travels. Singer Normand L'Amour is probably the most well-remembered of all.

The arrival of the dinosaurs

Near the end of the 1980s, the establishment was sold and its new owner brought in monster trucks to catch the eye of people travelling on Highway 20. In 1993, following the success of Steven Spielberg's movie Jurassic Park, a collection of dinosaurs was installed.
